David Lawrence Center offers prevention education programs that focus on a variety of mental health and substance abuse topics. Childrens prevention programs are targeted towards children, adolescents, parents and preschool educators. These programs provide alternatives, information dissemination and problem identification on substance abuse, suicide, conflict resolution, anger management, behavioral problems and depression.
To be referred into a David Lawrence Center prevention program, youth must have an initial assessment which is offered free of charge at the Juvenile Assessment Center. These services require pre-registration and are offered in Naples and on a limited basis in Immokalee.

group is a 12 session psycho-educational series for adolescents who are experiencing difficulties making choices that support a healthy lifestyle. Whether theyre having problems with their peers, disregarding rules or experimenting with substance use, this group can help guide adolescents toward making the right decisions.

- Evaluating Priorities
- Peer Pressure
- Values and Morals
- Self Esteem
- Substance Abuse Prevention
is a 12 session psycho-educational series targeted towards middle school aged youth to develop personal and substance awareness.
S.T.A.R.S. educates attendees on:
- Improving Social Skills
- Setting Goals
- Developing Positive Relationships
- Resolving Conflicts/Bullying
- Substance Abuse Awareness
- Consequences to Negative Behavior
is a six session psycho-educational series that provides tips to parents who are experiencing behavioral difficulties with their adolescent children.
Parenting for Problematic Teen Behaviors includes education on:
- Preventing and Intervening in the Childs Negative Choices
- Addressing Problematic Behavior
- Drug Use
- Developing Parental Action Plans
- Changing Destructive Behavior
- Rebuilding Family Relationships
is a 59 lesson psycho-educational curriculum designed for preschool youth (ages 3-5). The program is offered to local preschools and assists educators in their efforts to build self-esteem, self-control, respect for the rights of others and responsibility of one's own actions. PAPY teaches solid, age appropriate prevention, character education and problem solving skills.
