David Lawrence Center provides the Drug and Alcohol Traffic Education (DATE) course online for Collier County residents. Successful completion of the DATE course is required for all first time drivers in the State of Florida before they can apply for their drivers license. The four hour online course covers how alcohol and other drugs affect your ability to drive, laws and responsibilities, safe driving techniques and how to increase your awareness on the road today.
The online course requires a total of four hours of course time. At the end of four hours a 40 question multiple choice test must be passed to complete the course and receive a certificate necessary for obtaining a drivers license. You must answer 32 of the 40 questions correctly to pass the exam.
Once you register you will have 90 days to complete the course. You may take the course at any time of day and pause or exit the course at any time. If you exit the course or have your Internet connection disrupted your total time spent at that point is recorded. You may re-enter the course by entering your test key and you will be redirected back to the position in the course where you exited.
After successfully passing the final test, you will be mailed your course completion certificate.
You must make a secure payment of $30.00 to register for the course. After you register, you will be sent a registration key and from there you will be directed to the start of the course at your convenience.
